Stockholm. December 2. INTERFAX - NATO refuses Russian proposals to reduce tensions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"NATO's activities continue to escalate the situation on our borders, NATO refuses to consider our proposals to relieve tension and prevent dangerous incidents," Lavrov said at a press conference on Thursday.
He stressed that Russia had offered NATO concrete measures on these issues.
"Military capabilities in eastern Europe, including near the Russian borders, are being actively increased, at the same time we hear air-shaking statements addressed to us, and all this inevitably affects the activities of the OSCE," the minister added.
He also said that Russia will formulate and send proposals to NATO countries in the near future to ensure legally binding security guarantees.
"We want the agreements mentioned by the president, and which we will seek, to have a legal, legally binding character. In the near future, we will formulate appropriate concrete proposals to our Western colleagues and we will count on a serious attitude towards them," Lavrov said.
