The Israeli Ministry of Defense and the company leading real estate operations Shikun & Binui signed an agreement on the construction of a new IDF intelligence center in the Negev.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the agreement includes financing, planning and operation of the base for 26 years.
By 2028, the base is expected to serve 12,000 soldiers and officers of intelligence and cyber units, as well as additional units, Eadaily says.
On the occasion of the agreement, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz stated: "The Israel Defense Forces will continue to be a pioneer in the development of the Negev and the strengthening of Israeli society… The agreement we signed is additional proof that the IDF is an integral part of the nation it is building and on which it is built... The conditions on the base we will build and the funds that will be invested in its infrastructure will improve the capabilities of the Military Intelligence Directorate…This is a national-scale project... and that's why all members of the government have come together to support the government's decision, which was made two weeks ago… I have no doubt that we are planting the seeds of better intelligence capabilities, a stronger nation and a better economy in the future."
