As the executive director of Roscosmos, Alexander Bloshenko, clarified, such equipment will allow transmitting information in almost real time
MOSCOW, November 29. /tass/. The head scientific institute of Roscosmos TsNIIMash will develop equipment for the organization of high-speed communication lines between low-orbit satellites and the Earth. This was reported to TASS by the executive director of Roscosmos for Advanced Programs and Science, Alexander Bloshenko.
"Research and Development "Laser" is a technological work in the field of inter-satellite laser communication. The research will make it possible to create equipment for the organization of high-speed communication lines between low-orbit spacecraft, as well as the transmission of information to Earth," said Bloshenko.
As the executive director of Roscosmos clarified, such equipment will allow transmitting information in almost real time.
Also, TsNIIMash will produce layouts of unified scalable platforms of small dimensions for serial production within the framework of research and development "Tiporyad". They will form the basis of space communication systems, optical-electronic and radar surveillance. "The transition to mass production will lead to cheaper space technology and, accordingly, final services for consumers," explained Bloshenko.
The head scientific institute of Roscosmos TsNIIMash will be engaged in research and development work on the creation of models of unified platforms (R&D "Typoryad"), flexible digital load (R&D "Digital") and onboard laser communication equipment (R&D "Laser"). The work will be carried out within the framework of the Sphere program.
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the Sphere program on a direct line on June 7, 2018. It involves the launch of communications satellites and remote sensing of the Earth. In December 2020, a source told TASS that the work for 2021 has already been determined. In the autumn of this year, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin noted that the Sphere program will include five satellite groupings providing telecom services, and five more - surveillance.
