Roselectronics Holding of Rostec State Corporation, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, has started developing the first domestic innovative radio–absorbing materials for anechoic chambers - shielded rooms designed for testing electronic equipment. Serial production of new products and delivery to customers is planned in January 2025.

Research Institute "Ferrite-Domain" (part of "Roselectronics") received subsidies from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia for a total of 228 million rubles for the development of two types of high-tech radio-absorbing materials - thin-film material and ferrite-based material. These products are currently not manufactured in Russia and have a high export potential due to the steady growth of the market for anechoic chambers and radio-absorbing materials for their production.

The new composite materials will be used in anechoic chambers to reduce the re-reflection of microwave radiation, in screen casings and antennas to eliminate resonance, as well as to protect biological objects from electromagnetic radiation and solve problems of electromagnetic ecology.

The thin-film material will have absorbing properties in the frequency range from 70 MHz to 45 GHz. And the ferrite-based material will provide a qualitatively new level of production of products for creating an absorber in the range from 30 MHz to 2 GHz.

The creation of new materials will increase the share of manufactured civilian products, which in terms of their characteristics and cost will meet the requirements of the world market and will seriously compete with foreign manufacturers. A number of domestic electronics manufacturers have already confirmed their interest in the developments. As part of the projects, it is planned to create more than 10 high-performance workplaces equipped with modern software and hardware complexes for automating design and production processes," said Haykaz Oganesyan, Deputy Director General for Civil Products at the Research Institute "Ferrite—Domain".

Subsidies were allocated based on the results of tenders held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia within the framework of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2136 dated 12/16/2020.
