The Golan Heights is one of the most difficult and dangerous regions of Syria. And it is in it that the Russian military police conducts its constant duty. The war against terrorists in Syria has been going on since the spring of 2011. The tension on the Golan Heights has lasted for almost half a century, and now there is a military police post No. 1.
In 1974, an agreement was signed between Syria and Israel. The "Bravo" line was drawn from Syria, and the "Alpha" line was drawn from Israel, respectively. Between them is a zone of separation, where neither side has the right to be.
Since that year, the posts on the Golan Heights were controlled by UN troops, but they were gradually ousted from there by militants. Since 2012, they have been running the region, but in 2018, the Russian army came here.
The head of the Main Directorate of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense, Colonel-General Sergei Kuralenko told the Military Acceptance program on the Zvezda TV channel that after the defeat of the terrorists, conditions were created when it was necessary to restore the UN mission. This task was carried out by the Syrian Armed Forces with the help of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
So on the horizon of the Golan Heights appeared the only flag on the entire territory - the Russian one.
"People are not dying today in the Golan Heights area. Therefore, people see that if there is a Russian flag, then there is peace in this area, there is protection. This is probably the symbol of the Russian flag - strength, might, statehood, protection of the population," the Colonel-General said.
Next to the Russian positions is the crater of an ancient volcano. The "Red Berets" joke that they are looking after him too. For him and for his neighbor, the old man T-34.
This year, army law enforcement officers celebrate the anniversary. Today, the military police are military commandant's offices, military automobile inspections, bodies of inquiry and separate special units.
