Secretary of State of the Security Council: "we won't let them provoke us," but "we are ready to fight back"
Minsk. November 27. INTERFAX-WEST - State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich fears possible provocations due to the accumulation of Polish military at the border due to the migration crisis.
"This cannot but cause concern to military people. (...) Everything that has been created today on the sopredel can provoke a situation. It's like that spark," Wolfovich said in an interview with STV.
According to him, under the guise of combating illegal migration, refugees, in order to put a barrier to Europe, a military group of 23 thousand people has been created only on the territory of Poland, of which about 15 thousand are military personnel of different branches of the armed forces.
"And, probably, the plague heads are counting on something, that we will succumb to panic, including our commander-in-chief will give the order to move the groups to the border. And this may already be a border incident, which from small, small-sized hostilities can lead to a large-scale war. We look at these things sensibly and will not allow ourselves to be provoked. Of course, we are ready to fight back. (...) Our forces and means are ready to act adequately in case, God forbid, any provocative actions are unleashed," Wolfovich said.
This year, several thousand migrants, mainly from Iraq, have crossed the border with Belarus to Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. In Lithuania and Poland, due to the migrant crisis, a state of emergency was introduced at the border, barbed wire fences were erected, border security was strengthened to curb the flow of illegal immigrants from the territory of Belarus.
