Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. November 27. INTERFAX - Behind the reports that Russia is allegedly preparing to invade Ukraine is Washington's desire to push Kiev to attack the Donbass, said the head of the SVR Sergei Naryshkin.
"The goal is to try to push the little-controlled Kiev authorities to reignite the conflict that is taking place in the east of Ukraine. Moreover, for the United States, Ukraine is expendable in all this history, but the desire to rekindle the conflict with renewed vigor - we, of course, need to maintain self-control and strengthen the defense capability of our country," the head of the SVR said on the Rossiya 1 TV channel (VGTRK).
Answering a clarifying question, can we say that behind the rumors that Russia is preparing an invasion of Ukraine is the desire of the United States to push Kiev to attack the Donbass, Naryshkin replied: "Obviously so."
"All this around this topic is a malicious propaganda action by the US State Department. The State Department is pumping these fakes, these lies, and its allies, and the heads of the media and political science centers of the United States so that they multiply this lie-multiply and multiply. And they have inflated a pretty big bubble around this," Naryshkin said.
