KOROLEV /Moscow region/, November 26. /tass/. Roscosmos is ready to start work on the preliminary design of the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS) with compensation in 2023. This was announced by Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin at the Mission Control Center (MCC).
"At the moment, we are ready to start this work at the expense of the funds that we have, with subsequent compensation in 2023. If we receive political consent at the highest level, we will start this work," Rogozin said.
According to the head of Roscosmos, the agreement on the project will not be related to specific parameters of financing the work, but with a fundamental decision on their deployment. De facto, work on the preliminary design of ROSS has already begun, he noted.
In April, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that the state of the ISS leaves much to be desired, so Russia can focus on creating its own orbital station. The rocket and space corporation Energia was tasked with ensuring the readiness of the first module for the new Russian orbital station in 2025, it will be a scientific and energy module, which was previously supposed to be launched to the ISS in 2024.
The Scientific and Technical Council of Roscosmos recommended that work on the creation of a technical project for a new orbital station be included in the Federal Space Program - 2025.
