The US Department of Defense plans to reorganize the unit for tracking unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Now a group for tracking aerial objects will appear in the military department, the press service reported The Pentagon.
The reorganized unit will receive a broader name - the group for identification and synchronization of approach to air objects (AOIMSG).
"The group will synchronize actions in the Ministry of Defense and throughout the US government to detect, identify and attribute objects of interest in special airspace zones. It will also assess and reduce any related threats to flight safety and national security," the ministry said in a statement.
The Pentagon noted that all reports of the invasion of identified and unidentified air objects are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated by the department.
In May, former US President Barack Obama said that in the secret archives of military photographs there are images depicting so-called flying saucers.
Prior to that, in April, the former head of the CIA, Jace Woolsey, said that he admits the existence of unidentified flying objects. He also shared the story of his friend, who told about the strange behavior of the aircraft, which ceased to behave "like an ordinary plane."
The creation of a working group on the study of UFOs within the US Department of Defense was reported in August last year. The department reported that the unit will study the nature of the origin of UFOs, as well as their detection, analysis and compilation of catalogs of objects that could potentially pose a threat to the national security of the state.
In April 2020, the Pentagon released three unclassified videos showing "unidentified phenomena." One of the videos was filmed in November 2004, and the other two in January 2015.
