"At the moment, the approval of the project has reached the final stage, if key agreements are reached, it can be signed by the end of 2021," Kalashnikov said.
As noted in the Civil Code, during the preparation of the contract, "Russian and Indian specialists carried out a lot of preparatory work."
Kalashnikov added that when signing the contract, licensed production of automatic weapons may begin in the near future. "In this case, the production of the AK-203 for the Indian Armed Forces will begin in early 2022," the press service added.
The joint Russian-Indian enterprise for the production of Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited was founded in Korva (Uttar Pradesh) in March 2019. It is assumed that the company will produce about 700 thousand AK-203 assault rifles under license, while the localization of production will reach a 100 percent level.
