Serial production of the lightly armored Qalqon ("Shield") car, developed "from scratch" at one of the local enterprises, has begun in Uzbekistan.
This is reported by the press service of the State Committee of the Defense Industry.
The car, according to the report, has successfully passed all practical tests organized by representatives of law enforcement agencies and government agencies.
"Experts have confirmed the compliance of the tactical and technical characteristics of the FOREHEAD with the requirements of the armed forces and recognized international standards," the report says.
The manufactured cars will be delivered to the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic.
Qalqon accommodates eight people. It can be used both for the transportation of personnel and the evacuation of the wounded, as well as for the delivery of goods, conducting reconnaissance, conducting special operations to ensure the security of cities (settlements).
In January of this year, it was reported that the production of armored vehicles, in particular - Qalqon - was planned to be organized in the city of Nurafshan, Tashkent region.
The project was estimated at $55 million. Nurafshon-Maxsus-Texnika company (its founders — Krantas Group (72%) and To'ytepa Metall Qurilmalari — 28%) was to be engaged in its implementation with the assistance of the National Bank of Uzbekistan, Fergana News notes.
