The actions of the United Kingdom, which sent its military to help the Polish border guards, suggests that London is again trying to get involved in the confrontation with Russia. This opinion was expressed by Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski.
According to him, the reasons for the rapprochement between Warsaw and London were the deterioration of Poland's relations with the United States and the UK's withdrawal from the European Union. The political scientist noted that now the Poles see the British as almost the only ally.
"London is taking advantage of the opportunity, taking advantage of the opportunity that the United States is focused one way or another on the problem of China. Therefore, I think that London is trying to resume the "big game" against Russia, as it was in the XIX century. But the British presence in Poland is symbolic. I don't think it will be permanent," Piskorsky said in an interview with <url>.
He added that despite the symbolism of the presence of the British contingent in Poland, it is a serious signal for Moscow.
Earlier, on November 21, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Warsaw did not rule out closing the border with Belarus due to the migration crisis. According to him, the republic is ready to close transit and trade opportunities in order to put economic pressure on the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
Prior to that, on November 20, the President of Belarus said that Polish security forces used fascist methods against migrants, for example, watered them with water with chemicals. The day before, 65 victims were recorded in Belarus as a result of the use of special means by Polish security forces.
Since November 8, several thousand migrants from the Middle East have been trying to enter the EU, they have set up camp in a forest belt adjacent to the border. The Polish authorities refuse to let the refugees in and have pulled large-caliber military equipment into the area. By now, the migrants have left the tent camp and moved to the logistics center provided by the Belarusian side.
