Washington. November 21. INTERFAX - American intelligence has warned European allies about the growing threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine with the onset of cold weather, the SAF TV channel reported.
"The invasion depends on the weather, but may happen within a few weeks if there is no intervention from the West," informed sources from among the officials told CBS.
Sources note that the alleged buildup of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine has recently exceeded previous similar actions of the Russian authorities.
"Unlike the build-up of forces last spring, which was regarded as a demonstration of force, US intelligence officials warn that the current one may be preparation for an actual invasion of Donbass in eastern Ukraine," the report says.
The channel recalls that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Friday that the alliance is closely monitoring the "large and unusual concentration of Russian troops" near the border with Ukraine.
