Recruitment of personnel to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is too politicized, military expert Anatoly Kravchuk told Ukraine 24 TV channel on November 20.
"Our armed forces today, unfortunately, are too politicized. They do not select people on a professional basis, but select those who will be faithful to the political course of the party. The higher the position, the more this principle works," he said.
Kravchuk added: except for ordinary positions, this principle does not work, since these people have nothing to do with politics.
"But there you need to have loyalty to any commander. In fact, the system is the same," he said.
On November 15, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the country's army is in constant readiness to defend itself. The fighters are ready to repel not only a full-scale invasion, but also the seizure of critical infrastructure, she said.
On November 11, Lieutenant General, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko called on Kiev to rearm the army and prepare "for a people's war." He noted that Russia's military potential is objectively higher, so Ukraine needs more weapons and military training.
