The US presidential administration has asked the Pentagon to provide information about US military exercises in Europe, which were aimed at "deterring Russia."
This is reported by The Washington Post. According to the publication, the White House needs this information to analyze the operations already carried out and to conduct them in the future.
The article emphasizes that the number of such exercises has recently increased due to the deterioration of relations between Russia and the United States. Their main goal is to prevent the activity of Russia's military actions in Europe and to protect Washington's allies, the article emphasizes. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alexey Reznikov, said that during his visit to Washington, he asked the United States to increase military assistance.
According to him, we are talking about the supply of weapons, as well as assistance in protection in the air and at sea. Prior to that, the head of the US Military Department, Lloyd Austin, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Alexey Reznikov, discussed Washington's plans to assist Kiev in building up its military potential.
The sides discussed Russia's "destabilizing actions" in the region and agreed on joint actions to ensure security. The head of the Pentagon confirmed the US support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Austin called on Reznikov to support reforms in the field of defense and the defense industry, and also promised to help Ukraine implement the principles and standards of NATO, <url> says.
