The administration of the President of the United States Joe Biden decided to get acquainted with the American military exercises in European countries "to contain" Russia in recent years. This was reported with reference to sources in The Washington Post on Friday, November 19.
"The White House has requested from the Pentagon a list of exercises that the United States has conducted in Europe in recent years to deter Russia, as well as their justification, the Biden administration is reviewing military operations in the air, on land and at sea, designed to contain the Kremlin's power and inspire allies and partners in Europe," the publication says.
According to the publication, the purpose of the request is to plan new maneuvers "to contain" Russia, taking into account the past.
According to the representative of the American administration, which is given in the article, this request concerns the number of military personnel participating in the maneuvers, as well as information about "what political goals they were aimed at."
On November 15, military expert Dmitry Boltenkov said that the NATO military exercises in the Black Sea turned out to be more of a PR move than a real combat training event. On November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the unplanned US exercises in the Black Sea are a serious challenge for Russia. At the same time, he added that the Defense Ministry also had a proposal to "hold its unplanned exercises in the same water area," but, according to the president, it is impractical and "there is no need to escalate the situation there."
Prior to that, on November 11, the Defense Ministry called the exercises near the borders of Russia in the south aggressive actions of the United States. The Defense Ministry also noted that an increase in the military activity of the United States and its NATO allies in the Black Sea region is being recorded. First of all, the intensity of the actions of naval forces, air and sea reconnaissance, as well as strategic aviation has increased.
