An active phase of the joint exercise "Cobalt-2021" took place at one of the military training grounds in Tajikistan. It was attended by formations of special forces, internal affairs bodies, state security, ministries and departments for emergency situations and drug control of the Collective Rapid Response Forces of the CSTO.
The press service of the Central Military District reported that at this stage of the exercise, soldiers and officers of the Central Military District stormed the building and destroyed the militants barricaded there. "Having blocked the settlement captured by the conditional enemy, the servicemen, under the cover of heavy machine guns mounted on armored personnel carriers, carried out an assault. As a result, the leader of the conditional gang and several conditional militants were captured, the rest were destroyed," the district headquarters said.
They recalled that the Russian military contingent at the joint maneuvers "Cobalt-2021" was represented by a special purpose unit of the Central Military District. For the first time, servicemen of the reconnaissance battalion of the 201st military base of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan were also involved in such an exercise.
In total, about 60 soldiers and officers from the Russian Army were involved in the drawing of various episodes. And also - 10 units of military equipment, including two Mi-8MTV5-1 helicopters of the 201st military base air group.
