MOSCOW, November 18. /tass/. The tasks of combating international terrorist organizations force us to search and find new forms of interaction between the military departments of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, said Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov.
"The most important task facing us today is to increase the role of military cooperation in the security system of the Commonwealth, countering international terrorism and other military challenges. In the interests of the national armed forces, new forms of cooperation are being tested, field training and military training activities are being systematically carried out," Bulgakov said at a meeting of the Military Technical Committee (VTK) under the Council of Defense Ministers (CFR) of the CIS member states in Moscow on Thursday.
According to him, the dynamics and the general vector of development of relations in the military sphere remain "between the CIS partners." "Today it is obvious that it is possible to ensure security only through joint efforts and coordinated actions," the military commander stressed.
The meeting was attended by delegations headed by Deputy heads of defense departments of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The results and features of special exercises with military command bodies, formations, military units and logistics organizations, joint strategic exercises "West-2021" and joint special exercises "Echelon-2021" were discussed. The issues of improving the recovery system of rocket and artillery weapons, as well as the main directions of development of buggy-type military vehicles are considered.
The participants got acquainted with the exhibition of promising samples of military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Summing up, Bulgakov, who is the chairman of the VTK at the CIS CFR, said that "the meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and, undoubtedly, will contribute to further convergence of views on the development strategy and organization of logistical support for troops."
