TSAMTO, November 18. China has delivered a batch of QW-18A man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) to the Bangladesh Navy.
This is reported by Navyrecognition.com with reference to the information posted on the website of The Bangladesh Defense Analyst on November 12.
The QW-18A is an improved version of the QW-18, which is a portable anti-aircraft missile system with the possibility of omnidirectional destruction in the infrared range of air targets at low and very low altitude with a flight speed of more than 300 m/s. Range - from 500 to 5000 m, height - from 10 to 4000 m. MANPADS can be integrated with other air defense systems to create a full-fledged echeloned air defense system.
The use of MANPADS on board ships is an inexpensive solution to protect them from air threats, especially those that do not have ship-based air defense. It can be used to protect surface ships from most conventional aerial threats, such as anti-ship missiles, combat aircraft, helicopters and UAVs.
