Washington. November 17th. INTERFAX - The United States continues to monitor the actions of the Russian military near the borders with Ukraine, but cannot fully unravel Moscow's plans and considers it necessary for it to be more transparent, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday.
"As for the build-up of the military presence (of Russia - IF) on the border with Ukraine: We are following this very closely, and I am in regular, frequent contact with the head of the European Command of the US Armed Forces, General Todd Walters," he said at a briefing.
He noted that the United States cannot accurately determine Moscow's intentions towards Ukraine.
"I urge Russia to be more transparent about what it is going to do and take steps in accordance with the Minsk agreements," the minister also said.
Austin stressed that Washington's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is "unshakable."
