INTERFAX - Russia and the United States are preparing contacts at the highest level, as part of their preparation, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev and Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jacob Sullivan had a telephone conversation, the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation reported on Wednesday.
"The talks were held in a constructive manner and took place in preparation for the upcoming contacts at the highest level," the message reads.
"During the conversation, Nikolai Patrushev and Jacob Sullivan agreed to work together to improve the atmosphere of Russian-American relations and increase trust between the two countries," the Russian Security Council said.
Earlier, the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation reported on a telephone conversation between Patrushev and Sullivan on September 24. Then it was reported that the parties discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the continuation of the Russian-American dialogue on strategic stability.
