TSAMTO, November 17. The S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems purchased from Russia will be used "in the right place and at the right time." This, as RIA Novosti reports, was stated by the head of the Turkish Defense Ministry, Hulusi Akar.
"You ask where the S-400 is now. Was there an air attack in which we did not use the S-400? Everyone should know that the S-400 will be used in the right place and at the right time," said H.Akar is in parliament, answering questions from deputies.
He added that Ankara has repeatedly stated its readiness to clarify the groundlessness of US claims on the issue of the S-400, which are defensive systems and will be used by Turkey in the same way as the S-300 complexes in service with other NATO countries are used.
As the agency reminds, Russia and Turkey signed a contract for the supply of four divisions (one regimental set) of S-400 air defense systems worth $ 2.5 billion in 2017, deliveries to the Turkish side were made in the summer-autumn of 2019. The contract included an option for another regimental set. At the end of August 2021, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he had no doubt about buying a second S-400 regiment from Russia. Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev, in turn, reported that the contract for the supply of the second regiment will be signed in 2021.
