Yerevan. November 16. INTERFAX - As a result of fighting with the Azerbaijani armed forces, there is a dead person on the Armenian side, the Armenian Defense Ministry confirmed.
"At the moment, there are updated data on only one deceased - contract serviceman Merudzhan Harutyunyan, born in 1991. The number of wounded is also being specified. 12 Armenian servicemen were captured," the military department reported.
It is also noted that as a result of the actions of the Armenian side, "there are numerous dead among the personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, several armored vehicles have been disabled or destroyed."
The situation on the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Syunik region escalated on November 13. Then the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that the Azerbaijani military tried to ensure a positional offensive, which was prevented. The ministry reported that negotiations on the settlement of the situation were conducted with the mediation of the Russian side.
On November 15, Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Security Council that Azerbaijani troops had invaded the country in the eastern direction of the border. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia reported that the Azerbaijani military crossed the border in the direction of the city of Sisian in the Syunik region in the south of Armenia.
For its part, Baku reported on the attack by the Armenian military on Azerbaijani combat posts and blamed Yerevan for the aggravation of the situation.
