Moscow. November 16. INTERFAX - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation after a number of incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in a telephone conversation, the Kremlin's press service reported on Tuesday.
"It was agreed to continue contacts in this regard," the press service reports.
According to the report, the conversation took place on the initiative of the Armenian side.
The situation on the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Syunik region escalated on November 13. Then the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that the Azerbaijani military tried to ensure a positional offensive, which was prevented. The ministry reported that negotiations on the settlement of the situation were conducted with the mediation of the Russian side.
On November 15, Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Security Council that Azerbaijani troops had invaded the country in the eastern direction of the border. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia reported that the Azerbaijani military crossed the border in the direction of the city of Sisian in the Syunik region in the south of Armenia.
