MOSCOW, November 16. /tass/. Colonel-General Gennady Zhidko, who previously commanded the troops of the Eastern Military District, has been appointed deputy head of the Russian military Department, head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"Gennady Valeryevich, you have a lot to do here. Congratulations, come back to Moscow. Get to your work - Deputy Minister of Defense, head of the Main Military-Political Directorate," Shoigu said, accepting the report Fluidly via videoconference.

"I have handed over the affairs and the position of the commander of the troops of the Eastern Military District. I ask your permission to leave for a new place of service," Zhidko reported to the minister.

Earlier it was reported that Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko was appointed the new commander of the Air Defense Forces.
