MOSCOW, November 15. /tass/. The Russian government has approved an agreement between Russia and Tajikistan on the creation of a joint air defense system. The corresponding resolution was published on Monday on the official portal of legal information.
"To approve and submit to the President of the Russian Federation for ratification in the State Duma <...> the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan on the creation of a joint regional air defense system of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, signed in Dushanbe on April 27, 2021," the text of the resolution says.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the creation of such an air defense system in April at talks with the head of the military department of Tajikistan. As Shoigu explained then, the parties have prepared a draft of the relevant agreement in order to increase the reliability of the protection of the state border in the airspace.
