Servicemen of the Central Military District (CVO) will take part in the joint CSTO exercise "Cobalt-2021" for the first time. They involve formations of special forces, internal affairs bodies, state security, ministries and departments for emergency situations and drug control of the Collective Rapid Response Forces of the CSTO.
The press service of the Central Military District reported that this exercise will be held from November 17 to 19 at the Fakhrabad training ground in the Republic of Tajikistan. "The Russian military contingent at the exercise is represented by servicemen of the special purpose unit of the Central Military District and the reconnaissance battalion of the 201st military base," the press service said. It is known that about 60 soldiers and officers, as well as ten pieces of military equipment, including two Mi-8MTV5-1 helicopters of the air group of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, will be involved in the drawing of various episodes.
It is stated that the purpose of the exercise is to increase the efficiency of preparing and conducting coordinated actions in the regions of the collective security of the Organization. "During the practical events, Russian servicemen, together with colleagues from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, will work out issues of planning and conducting an operation to destroy militants, acting as part of the special forces of the CSTO CSR," the Central Military District noted.
They reported that during the active phase of the exercise, an operation will be carried out to block and storm a building conditionally captured by militants with the use of reconnaissance equipment and helicopters.
