The Indian military has found a place for the first regiment of S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft systems - they will be placed near the border with Pakistan. The new air defense systems will cover the western direction, writes The Economic Times, citing sources in the Indian Ministry of Defense.
Given the range of the "Trumfs", they will protect the country not only from Pakistani, but also Chinese air strikes, according to New Delhi. Plans for the deployment of four more C-400 regimental sets ordered by India have not been disclosed.
Earlier, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation Dmitry Shugaev said that the transfer of the first regiment of "Trumfs" to the Indian military has already begun. New Delhi has received some components of the systems, the full delivery will be completed by the end of the year. The calculations for working with the S-400 are ready - they have been trained in Russia, the preparation of the second group of Indian anti-aircraft gunners is being completed.
Recall that the contract for the supply of five regimental sets of Triumphs to New Delhi was concluded in 2018, the transaction amount was $ 5.43 billion. India became the third and largest buyer of the S-400: before it, two regimental sets were purchased by China and one by Turkey.
