Yerevan. November 14th. INTERFAX - The Azerbaijani armed forces on Sunday afternoon tried to ensure a positional offensive in the eastern direction (Gegharkunik region) of the border with Armenia, the situation is tense, the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reports.
"At 13:00 on November 14, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces tried to ensure a positional advance in the eastern direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. An intense firefight began. Armenian servicemen prevented the enemy's attempts to establish themselves in this territory," the Armenian Defense Ministry reports.
The ministry noted that the situation continues to remain tense.
"Currently, negotiations are underway with the mediation of the Russian side to resolve the situation. There are no casualties on the Armenian side," the Defense Ministry noted.
On May 12-13, units of the Azerbaijani army entered the territory of Armenia in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions. Armenia appealed to the CSTO in this regard, and Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for assistance.
