According to Dmitry Shugaev, Russia offers potential foreign partners a wide range of means to combat UAVs
DUBAI, November 14. /tass/. The countries of the Middle East region are interested in the Russian upgraded anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex (ZRPC) "Pantsir-S1M". This was announced to TASS by Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) during the Dubai Airshow 2021 international Airshow.
"First of all, [interest is shown in] the Pantsir-S1M missile defense system, which was created, among other things, to repel air threats in the form of small-sized low-flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)," he said.
According to him, Russia offers potential foreign partners a wide range of means to combat UAVs. "But today we offer our partners other comprehensive solutions to this issue. Russian manufacturers have the relevant competencies, which were confirmed by good results during the operation in the Syrian Arab Republic," Shugaev said.
In August, at the Army-2021 International Military-Technical Forum, it became known that Rosoboronexport signed the first contract for the Pantsir-S1M.
"Pantsir-S1M" received new anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM), which increased the target range from 20 to 30 km and height from 15 to 18 km, in general, the volume of the protected zone was increased three times. Along with the new missiles, the complex can use missiles from the Pantsir-S1 complex. In addition, the stealth and noise immunity of combat work have been increased, fire performance per unit of time has been improved.
Dubai Airshow is one of the largest international aviation and space exhibitions and is held in the UAE once every two years. Russia has been participating in it since 1993.
