Yerevan. November 13. INTERFAX - The Azerbaijani armed forces fired at the positions of the Armenian army in the Gegharkunik region in the east of the republic.
"On November 13, at 12.10 pm, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire in the direction of the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces located in the direction of the settlement of Verin Shorzha, Gegharkunik region," the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reports.
The ministry noted that as a result of retaliatory measures, the enemy's fire was suppressed, there were no losses on the Armenian side.
On May 12-13, units of the Azerbaijani army entered the territory of Armenia in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions. Armenia appealed to the CSTO in this regard, and Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for assistance.
On June 12, Pashinyan said that he was discussing with Moscow the issue of deploying Russian border guards in the border line with Azerbaijan from the east to the south of Armenia.
Earlier on Saturday, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry accused the Armenian Armed Forces of shelling in the direction of the Kelbajar district of the republic.
"Starting from noon on November 13, the Armenian Armed Forces from their positions in the village of Yukhary Shorja of Basarkechar district have been firing at the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Zeylik of the Kelbajar district of Azerbaijan from firearms of various calibers, sniper rifles and grenade launchers," the military department said in a statement.
