Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov congratulated the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Order of Suvorov twice Red Banner Command School named after Army General Vasily Margelov (RVVDKU) on the 103rd anniversary of its formation.
"The forge of personnel of Airborne Troops and special forces is rightfully proud of the heroic pages of its history, the Minister of Defense always pays special attention to the school. By his decision, the main educational institution of the Airborne Forces is equipped with the best material and technical base, the latest training facilities and modern infrastructure," he said. "The key to the further development and success of our university is the transfer from generation to generation of traditions that the school is proud of, and the effective use of an advanced training and education system that meets modern requirements," the deputy head of the military department noted in his speech.
Speaking at the rally, the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, congratulated veterans, cadets, and the teaching staff of the school on the holiday. "The Ryazan Airborne School is the heart of the Airborne Forces, the source of will, courage, heroism, knowledge and professionalism - all the best qualities of a Russian officer," he said. There are 53 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 85 Heroes of the Russian Federation among the graduates of the school, the commander noted.
According to him, over the years of its existence, the school has trained tens of thousands of professional personnel, educated more than one generation of officers and generals who are united by one motto: "No one but us!". "Today, the students of the renowned educational institution continue the traditions of the Russian army, laid down by our ancestors, with dignity. They honestly and conscientiously fulfill their military duty, ensuring the security of Russia and strengthening its authority," he said. "The purpose of the school is to educate a new generation of senior staff at any level, capable of solving tasks of any complexity in the shortest possible time and ready to sacrifice themselves by fulfilling their duty. All this can be done only by people with a strong spirit, who are able to serve the Motherland not by compulsion, but by conviction," the commander stressed.
"I want to express special words of gratitude to the Airborne Troops in general, since both in 1992 and in 2008 the paratroopers saved the people of South Ossetia," said Anatoly Bibilov, a graduate of the college, President of the Republic of South Ossetia, who spoke at the rally.
The solemn event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the formation of the RGVVDKU was attended by graduates of the school, commanders of the airborne Forces and chiefs of the RVVDKU of different years, representatives of the leadership of the Ryazan region, veterans and public organizations, residents of Ryazan.
