Russia and France need to jointly analyze the existing security problems in order to further identify steps to de-escalate the situation in Europe. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at the plenary session of the Russian-French Security Cooperation Council, which was held in Paris on Friday in the "2+2" format.
He said he expects a frank conversation with his French colleagues. "We hope that we will be able to talk openly, make appropriate decisions and set tasks for specialists, including from the defense departments of Russia and France," the minister said.
According to him, the situation in the world today is quite complicated. "Therefore, there is a need to exchange views on international security issues, discuss regional issues," Shoigu stressed. He thanked the French partners for their hospitality and initiative to hold this meeting.
