India has sent a protest to China in connection with its construction of settlements in the border areas with the Indian northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
This is reported by the Pioneer newspaper.
"India has expressed a strong diplomatic protest against these actions of China and will continue to make such protests in the future," the publication quotes a statement made at a briefing by the official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry Arindam Bagchi.
According to him, "China has been carrying out construction work in the border areas over the past few years, including those that it has illegally occupied for decades." "India opposes the occupation of its areas and rejects China's unjustified territorial claims," Bagchi stressed.
Earlier, the Indian Ministry of Defense confirmed the fact that the PRC was building a dual-use settlement on the border with the state of Arunachal Pradesh in an area that was seized from India by the Chinese army as a result of the border conflict in 1959.
According to the Ministry of Defense, this locality can be used for both civilian and military purposes, TASS says.
