TSAMTO, November 11. Lockheed Martin and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. have signed a cooperation agreement that will allow them to jointly develop, manufacture and supply planned SPICE-250 guided aerial bombs to the armed forces of the United States and Poland.
According to a Lockheed Martin press release, the new agreement is based on a cooperation agreement from 2019, in which Lockheed Martin and Rafael agreed to jointly promote SPICE-1000 and SPICE-2000 UAB kits in the United States.
SPICE (Smart, Precise Impact and Cost-Effective) is a family of long-range autonomous air-to-ground ammunition that allows you to strike with high accuracy even in the absence of a GPS signal, using a survey and comparative correlation guidance system based on artificial intelligence algorithms.
The SPICE family, tested in combat by the Israeli Air Force and other buyers, consists of SPICE-250, SPICE-1000 and SPICE-2000 variants with a range of up to 100 km.
Dave Pantano, director of the SPICE program at Lockheed Martin, said that Lockheed Martin's extensive experience in integrating weapons systems will help the company adapt the Israeli SPICE-250 UAB to the standards of the US Armed Forces and, accordingly, the Polish Armed Forces.
