INTERFAX - The current situation in Afghanistan and possible threats to regional security were discussed in Moscow at a meeting of the Tajik Ambassador to Russia Davlatshoh Gulmakhmadzod with the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas Nicklasson, the Tajik Embassy in Russia reported.
As stated in the message, the importance of strengthening further cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU to facilitate an early settlement of the intra-Afghan crisis was stressed. In particular, they discussed further ways to provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, including the need to assist in the economic recovery of this country.
"The Ambassador of Tajikistan, noting the transport and logistics capabilities of the country, expressed the readiness of the republic to assist the international community in providing humanitarian assistance to the population of Afghanistan through the territory of Tajikistan," the message reads.
