MOSCOW, Nov 11 - RIA Novosti. Russian military scientists from the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces are creating a new complex to protect critical infrastructure facilities from group drone attacks, which is an electrified dome-type barrier capable of driving away and destroying drones, follows from a document posted on Rospatent's website.
According to the description of the invention, patented at the end of October 2021, this device consists of a controlled electrified barrier in the form of two mesh domes, electronic detection equipment, an automated operator's workplace and an electrical energy conversion device, as well as a power source and a video surveillance system.
The system is designed to protect critical facilities, including nuclear power plants and oil storage facilities from a group attack by drones. The barrier is equipped with a radio-electronic UAV detection system, which allows determining the number of aircraft, the parameters of their movement, on the basis of which the protective electrified barrier will be affected by drones.
In total, there are three modes of operation of the "electric dome": security, security-repulsive (impact on drones when approaching the object, which does not provide for their destruction) and security-striking (with the destruction of the intruder drone).
According to the document, the expediency of the new invention lies in the cost-effectiveness of its operation — with a group attack of small-sized drones, the use of traditional protection systems providing for the defeat of drones with ammunition is costly, and the probability of hitting such targets is significantly reduced.
