The presence of the Russian military in Transnistria is illegal, therefore all the armed forces of the Russian Federation must be withdrawn from the region.
This was stated by the American Congressman-Democrat William Keating, reports RT.
As the newspaper notes, the politician has released a draft resolution on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Moldova's independence. The document notes that the United States condemns "the illegal presence of Russian Armed Forces in the Transnistrian region of Moldova."
"The House of Representatives calls for the withdrawal of all forces and means belonging to the Russian security services or armed forces from the sovereign territory of Moldova," the draft resolution says.
Keating stressed that it is in the interests of the United States and the country's allies to promote "democratic governance, energy security and economic growth" in Moldova.
