Nur-Sultan. November 4th. INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN - The next round of negotiations on the Syrian settlement is planned to be held in the capital of Kazakhstan in mid-December, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi said.
"We have received an appeal from the guarantor countries with a request to organize the next negotiations of the Astana process, we are agreeing on the exact dates, sometime in mid-December," Tleuberdi told reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the government.
"As usual, the guarantor countries will be represented at the level of deputy ministers," he added.
Earlier, a source told the Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency that it is not planned to hold talks on Syria in the Astana format, announced earlier for the autumn, until the end of this year.
The "Astana format" involves the guarantor countries for the Syrian settlement - Russia, Turkey, Iran, as well as representatives of the Syrian government and the Syrian armed opposition. The delegations of the UN, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq participate as observers.
