Russia currently does not threaten the Baltic states, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes.
"Despite the significant increase in Russia's aggressiveness, there is currently no direct military threat to the Baltic states," Stoltenberg told Estonian television.
Nevertheless, according to him, Russia's behavior causes serious concern and requires close attention.
"We are seeing a growing Russian presence and a significant concentration of Russian forces in the Baltic region. NATO is responding to this with a growing presence in the region, while simultaneously increasing its participation in the protection of airspace, on land and at sea. We have also strengthened the readiness of the troops to respond promptly if necessary," Stoltenberg said.
