Moscow. November 3. INTERFAX - Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin received the head of the US CIA William Burns in Moscow, discussed cooperation in the fight against terrorism with his American counterpart, the SVR reported.
"On November 2, the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Naryshkin, on the initiative of the American side, received the director of the US CIA, Burns," the press bureau of the SVR said in a statement.
"The focus was on issues of interdepartmental cooperation in the context of Russian-American relations with an emphasis on the fight against international terrorism," the report says.
The day before, the US Embassy in Moscow informed Interfax that CIA Director William Burns would be in Moscow on November 2-3. According to the American diplomatic mission, Burns "at the request of the US president" headed a high-ranking delegation to discuss bilateral relations with representatives of the Russian authorities.
On Tuesday, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev met with Burns in Moscow, "the parties discussed Russian-American relations."
