Washington. November 1st. INTERFAX - The United States continues to monitor the situation on the border of Russia and Ukraine and will pay attention to any aggressive actions in this region, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in connection with media reports about the alleged transfer of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine.
"As we said earlier, any aggressive, escalating actions will cause great concern to the United States. We continue to support de-escalation efforts in the region and a diplomatic settlement of the conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine," he said at a briefing on Monday.
Kirby noted that the United States is still monitoring the situation in this region of the world. He added that the United States will continue to consult with its allies and partners on this issue.
At the same time, he refused to speculate about the alleged intentions of the Russian side.
Earlier, The Washington Post published data on the alleged "resumption of movements of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border." The publication says that videos have allegedly recently appeared on social networks showing "Russian military trains and convoys carrying a large amount of military equipment, including tanks and missiles, in the south and west of Russia."
