Dmitry Shugaev noted that the weapon could also fall into the hands of terrorists
MOSCOW, November 1. /tass/. American weapons abandoned in Afghanistan can enter the illegal market and become a problem for the whole world, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with RBC, which will be published on Tuesday.
"The fact that the Americans threw weapons and military equipment at such a crazy amount has become a huge problem not only for Afghanistan now, but for the whole world in general. In particular, because there are various kinds of international terrorist organizations operating on the territory of Afghanistan and it is possible that these weapons will fall into their hands too, if they have not already fallen," Shugaev said.
According to him, "these weapons can also get into the illegal market."
"That is, it can be anywhere in the world. It is possible that very unpleasant surprises are waiting for us. Moreover, the United States left very serious equipment there," the head of the Federal Customs Service stressed.
Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, modern weapons worth more than $85 billion remained in this country. The same figure was previously called by a number of media outlets with reference to former US President Donald Trump.
