Washington. October 31. INTERFAX - US President Joe Biden at a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan on Sunday expressed his desire to maintain constructive relations between the countries, while expressing concern that Ankara has acquired Russian S-400 air defense systems.
"President Biden stressed the desire to maintain constructive relations, develop cooperation and effectively resolve differences," the White House said in a statement following the meeting.
"President Biden noted the importance of cooperation with Turkey in the field of defense, but stressed that the United States is concerned that Turkey has Russian S-400 systems," the communique says.
"The leaders also discussed the political process in Syria, the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghans in need, the elections in Libya, the situation in the Mediterranean and diplomatic efforts in Transcaucasia," the document says.
