Washington. October 31. INTERFAX - Officials in the United States and Europe in recent weeks have noted Russia's buildup of troops on the border with Ukraine after the Russian-Belarusian military exercises "West 2021", which causes concern, the Washington Post newspaper reported, citing its sources.
"The renewed movements of Russian troops in the area are taking place as the Kremlin adheres to a tougher line towards Ukraine," the newspaper writes.
The publication says that recently videos have appeared on social networks showing "Russian military trains and convoys carrying a large amount of military equipment, including tanks and missiles, in the south and west of Russia."
According to sources, "Russian officials, starting with President Vladimir Putin, have intensified their rhetoric in recent months, attacking Kiev's ties with the West."
The newspaper notes that the West also draws attention to the fact that "the conflict between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed separatists in the eastern region of Donbass is entering a new stage."
