Russia and Brazil continue to discuss the possible purchase by the Latin American country of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems (ZRPC). This was announced by Deputy Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) Anatoly Punchuk.
"Currently, the issue of the acquisition by the Brazilian side of the Shell has not been removed from the agenda and continues to be discussed," Punchuk told TASS during the international arms exhibition SITDEF 2021.
As the deputy head of the service noted, Brazil had previously been actively working on the issue of acquiring a modern Russian complex. This, according to him, was due to the need to ensure the security of important international events held in the country at that time.
Negotiations on Brazil's acquisition of Russian ZRPC have been underway since 2013. In May 2016, Alexander Fomin, who then held the post of head of the Federal Customs Service, stated that the Russian Federation was ready to supply Pantsir complexes to Brazil, but then the counter was not signed due to internal problems in the Latin American country.
"Pantsir-S— is an anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex, which is designed for close cover of civilian and military facilities (including long-range air defense systems) from all modern and promising means of air attack.
