The document is signed for five years
MOSCOW, October 30. /tass/. The Russian government has approved the signing of an agreement on military cooperation between Russia and Cameroon. The corresponding order is published on the official website of regulatory legal acts.
"To approve the draft Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Cameroon on military cooperation submitted by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and other interested federal executive authorities, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation," the document says.
According to the order, the Russian Defense Ministry is instructed to hold negotiations with the Cameroonian side with the participation of interested federal executive authorities and, upon reaching an agreement, sign an agreement on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, allowing amendments to the draft that are not of a fundamental nature.
The relevant document states that the parties cooperate in the exchange of information on defense and international security issues, the development of relations of joint training of engineering support forces, military education, military medicine, military topography, military hydrography, sports and culture. It also provides for the exchange of peacekeeping activities and cooperation in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations, cooperation in search and rescue at sea, combating terrorism and piracy, and other areas of cooperation by agreement of the parties.
The Agreement is concluded for five years and enters into force 30 days after the receipt of the last written notification through diplomatic channels on the implementation by the parties of the necessary domestic procedures. Its validity is automatically extended for a subsequent five-year period, unless either party notifies the other party in writing of its intention to terminate its validity at least six months before the expiration of the initial or next five-year period.
