The enterprise can be upgraded after the launch, said Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport JSC
LIMA, October 28. /tass/. The commissioning of the plant for the production of AK-103 Kalashnikov assault rifles in Venezuela is scheduled until the end of 2022. This was announced in an interview with TASS on the eve of the international arms exhibition SITDEF 2021 by the Director General of Rosoboronexport JSC (part of Rostec State Corporation) Alexander Mikheev.
"In the absence of circumstances beyond our control, the completion of construction and commissioning of the plant is scheduled until the end of 2022," he said.
According to him, in 2021 Rosoboronexport and Russian contractors carried out active work on the construction and equipment of the plant, which was repeatedly noted by the Venezuelan side. "At the same time, thanks to timely planning and purchase of engineering equipment, the global price increase did not affect the progress of the work," Mikheev added.
According to the head of Rosoboronexport, the AK-103 production plant in Venezuela can be upgraded after the start of production. "The issue of modernization [of the plant] can be considered if the Venezuelan side applies after the start of its operation," he summed up.
The International Salon of Defense Technologies SITDEF 2021 will be held until October 31 on the territory of the general headquarters of the ground forces in the capital of Peru. The exhibition has been held every two years since 2007. Rosoboronexport is a regular participant of the salon.
