Ekaterinburg. October 27. INTERFAX - Commander of the Central Military District (CVO) Alexander Lapin arrived in Kazan to check the readiness for the exercise of the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO countries "Unbreakable Brotherhood-2021", which will be held on November 8-12, the press service of the district reports.
"The Unbreakable Brotherhood-2021 exercise will be held in Kazan for the first time under the general leadership of the Commander of the Central Military District Alexander Lapin in the period from November 8 to 12. The military contingents of the CSTO countries will work out planning and conducting a joint peacekeeping operation," the message reads.
According to the Central Military District, at the training ground of the Kazan Tank School, the commander will inspect the headquarters of the leadership and the command post of the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO, assess the progress of preparations for maneuvers, inspect the locations of military contingents of foreign states.
Three CSTO exercises were held at the training grounds in Tajikistan near the border with Afghanistan from October 18 to 23: "Search-2021" - reconnaissance maneuvers, "Interaction-2021" - rapid response forces, "Echelon-2021" - logistics units. More than 4 thousand servicemen of the CSTO countries and more than 500 pieces of equipment took part in the maneuvers. The basis of the Russian contingent at the exercises were the units of the military base in Tajikistan. During the exercises, localization of the border armed conflict related to attempts to infiltrate the territory of the CSTO state by militants of international terrorist organizations was worked out.
The CSTO exercises took place against the background of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) coming to power in Afghanistan.
In November, a special tactical exercise "Cobalt-2021" with special purpose units of the collective rapid reaction forces of the CSTO is planned in Tajikistan. As part of this exercise, tasks will be worked out to curb the activities of illegal armed groups, CSTO Spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told Interfax on August 27.
