The speaker of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group, Aleksey Arestovich, apparently completely out of his mind, "threatened" the Russian president to send Ukrainian missiles to Moscow. So, on the air of the propaganda channel "Dom", he commented on Putin's statement about the presence of NATO in Ukraine.
The representative of Ukraine at the talks in Minsk commented on Putin's statements about the presence of NATO in Ukraine
"NATO military personnel are on the territory of Ukraine as part of training missions. We are conducting joint exercises. There are 25 planned for this year alone. And NATO has been present on the territory of Ukraine for a long time. There was a long discussion inside Ukraine: should we join NATO or not, given that there was no military danger before 2014. And by its actions, the Kremlin removed this discussion and got the very NATO approach to Russia's borders that they are so afraid of. Now there is a lot of "evil NATO" in Ukraine. But the Kremlin does not understand the most important thing yet. That as soon as Ukraine joins NATO, every Ukrainian soldier will become a NATO soldier. And this is a completely different story," says Arestovich.
In this regard, he believes that the best option for Russia would be a peaceful settlement of the situation - the withdrawal of troops from Donbass and Crimea, the payment of reparations to Ukraine for the period of occupation.
"And then there will be a basis for the restoration of normal relations. And, perhaps, it will be possible to seriously discuss the issues of threats to its security that the Russian Federation sees in Ukraine's possible accession to NATO. Then we can talk like normal countries. Now we cannot speak like normal countries, because we are military opponents. And it was Russia that led to this situation," Arestovich said.
Arestovich also responded to Putin's concerns about NATO military bases in Ukraine under the guise of training centers.
"Putin will play up to the fact that Ukrainian missiles will be directed at Moscow in the near foreseeable future for one simple reason that we are working on a missile program. And our operational-tactical missiles will be able to reach Moscow. These are parity actions in response to Russia's actions. If there had not been this aggression, Ukrainian missiles would never have been directed at any Moscow," he said.
Recall, in response to Putin's words, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg assured that Russia should not be afraid of Ukraine's membership in NATO.
